When to Replace Your Boiler Published on March 04, 2017 Is it time to replace your new boiler? Hammond Plumbing & Heating is here with a couple signs to look for when choosing whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler. Age If your condensing boiler has routine maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade. Bills If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to call an expert about your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler. Discoloration If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning properly and could be producing carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Hammond Plumbing or your gas company immediately. Comfort If some of the sections in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you could need to look into upgrade alternatives.
